“Dating out of your league” isn’t real

Main Post:

People love to say someone is “out of your league,” but I don’t think that actually exists. Attraction isn’t some universal ranking system where everyone agrees who’s on top. What makes one person desirable might not matter at all to someone else.

Sure, society tends to put looks, money, or status on a pedestal, but most real relationships are built on compatibility, shared values, humor, and how you make each other feel. Calling someone “out of your league” usually just reflects personal insecurity, not reality.

If two people choose each other, then they’re in the same “league.” Period.

how many people is too many to be dating at once?

Main Post:

So I (26M) just had a date that went pretty well today and I have another one tomorrow. I also have two other girls I’m talking to consistently and was going to set up dates with them as well, but I’m becoming a little concerned that this is too many things at once. I guess I have two questions:

  1. What is the ethical limit of girls I should be talking to and seeing at once? (I’m not sleeping with anyone yet.)
  2. Is there an effective limit? I.e., a point at which I’m doing myself a disservice by focusing on too many things at once?

Tbh I’ve never really put much effort into my profile, and the amount of attention I’ve received since overhauling it a couple weeks ago has been somewhat overwhelming. I’m not used to having this much opportunity, and I don’t really know how to navigate it.

What is happening in the current state of dating?

Main Post:

so for those of you who are single and dating right now. What is the number one problem that you have in the dating marketplace? If you’re using apps, what is the number one problem you have with apps? If you’re not getting any dates, why do you think that’s happening? I’m so curious. I’ve been having some conversations with some friends and I think I might know why, but I would love your input

Dating in Reddit

Main Post:

Why can't we all normalize using this app for dating purpose? Like choosing a person, chat with them and meet them in person around our location?

Top Comment: When you say this app, do you mean this subreddit ? Because there is ton of subreddit in reddit that are used to date and meet currently, like r/r4r

Why is dating so hard in the US?

Main Post:

I grew up in a different country and moved here at 24. I remember in my country, I didn't have big problems dating. If you were at least average looking, had ambitions/ worked hard and had basic good manners, most girls/ women would be fine with dating you.

Then I moved here, and saw that potential partners cared too much about minute details. The number of cats you have, the fish you can catch, the music you like, etc. People tend to expect perfect chemistry/ alignment in every single aspect of life, which is extremely rare. In the previous country, I wasn't rejected by women because I liked Pop over RnB, or a different type of dog breed from the one they liked. They didn't think such details were significant enough to decide who to date.

Anyway, I find it interesting that although people are super picky when dating this side, divorce rates are very high (compared to the country I'm talking about, and even to the world in general). Why are the divorce rates high when people have sifted through and turned away hundreds of potential partners and selected their partner extra carefully? (Surprisingly, the countries with less picky people have less divorces by the way)
